How old do I need to hire a vehicle?
In general, for cars and vans, you must be aged 21 or over to hire in the UK and have held a full clean driving licence for at least three years.

What information will I need to provide to get a quote online?
You have to provide us with the dates of travel and the type of vehicle you wish to hire, your age and how long you have held a full UK driving licence
Are there restrictions on what vehicles I can drive on a standard licence?
Yes, there are. On a standard licence for which the driving test pass date is after 01/01/1997, you cannot drive more than an 8 seater and over 35 CWT vehicle, unless you have passed a test covering these vehicles
What documents do I need to hire?
You need to scan and send your photo card driving licence with your current address and you will also need two proofs of residence, matching your photo card driving licence, dated no older than three months including bank statements, Land line phone bills and council tax. If you still hold a paper licence, you will need to bring a current passport as well. All hirers will need their national insurance number for DVLA checks, We will need to see the licence when we deliver the vehicle
Do you allow vehicles to go abroad?
Yes, we do. For European hire, you must notify us of your journey plans well in advance so we may arrange suitable cover for you. Special rates and cover will apply
Can I hire on my own insurance?
No, all vehicles must be covered under our own policy.
Do you offer long-term hire arrangements?

May I open an account with J&R Car and Van Hire?
Yes, you will need to complete a credit application form. Once approved, you will be able to hire vehicles on your own credit account.

What is the Excess on your Insurance Policy?
The Excess ranges from between £1000 to £1600 Dependent on the type of vehicle there is an option to reduce this excess in store
